Friday’s Preview in Shanghai and Beijing
Friday’s action at the 2025 Rolex Shanghai Masters will feature the return of 24-time Major winner Novak Djokovic.
Playing a limited schedule this year, Djokovic will be taking part in his 12 event in 2025. Owning 100 career titles, Djokovic has not won a Grand Slam event since the 2023 US Open.
Djokovic will face former US Open winner Marin Cilic in his first hurdle in Shanghai. Djokovic owns a 19-2 head-to-head lead over Cilic. Cilic is currently ranked No. 94 in the world.
Djokovic reached the finals of the Shanghai Masters in 2024, losing to No. 2 seed Jannik Sinner.
Other players featured on Friday will include: No. 5 seed Taylor Fritz, No. 6 seed Ben Shelton, No. 10 seed Holger Rune and No. 25 seed Frances Tiafoe.
On Thursday, recent Chengdu, China winner Alejandro Tabilo reached the round of 64 by defeating Marcos Giron 6-4, 6-3.
Gauff, Anisimova Reach Beijing Semifinals
On Thursday, No. 2 seed Coco Gauff and No. 3 seed Amanda Anisimova reached the semifinals of the China Open.
Gauff defeated Eva Lys 6-3, 6-4, and Anisimova ousted No. 6 seed Jasmine Paolini 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-4. The pair will face off on Saturday.
On Friday, the final two quarterfinals will feature Jessica Pegula taking on No. 16 seed Emma Navarro, and No. 26 seed Linda Noskova facing Sonay Kartal.
