Tsitsipas Returns to Action as Top Seed at Winston-Salem Open

Tuesday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results and Previews

Tuesday’s action at the Winston-Salem Open in North Carolina, U.S.A. will feature top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas back in action, looking for some much-needed form against Yunchaokete Bu from China.

Tsitsipas, who has been far from his best this year, currently stands at No. 28 in the world and has a record of 20-15 on the season.

The Greek star, who was ranked as high as No. 3 in the world back in August of 2001, is hoping for a deep run this week with the US Open beginning next week in New York City.

Other players in actin on Tuesday will feature, No. 2 seed Tallon Griekspoor, No. 3 seed Luciano Dardari, No. 4 seed Gabriel Diallo and No. 5 seed Lorenzo Sonego.

On Monday, No. 11 seed Sebastian Korda, Darwin Blanch and Stefan Dostanic picked up first round victories.

For Blanch and Dostanic, it was their first-ever main draw wins on the ATP Tour, defeating Borna Coric and Aleksandar Vukic, respectfully.

Korda was returning to action from an injury he suffered at Roland Garros earlier this year. The 25-year-old had not played a competitive match since then.

Tennis in the Land—Cleveland, Ohio

Tuesday’s action at the WTA event in Cleveland, Ohio will feature No. 8 seed Hailey Baptiste, Eva Lys, Elsa Jacquemot, and Iva Jovic from the United States in action.

On Monday, top seed Liudmila Samsonova, No. 2 seed Wang Xinyu, and No. 7 seed Katie Boulter were all victorious.

No. 5 seed and French Open semifinalist Lois Boisson was ousted in three sets by Jil Teichmann 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.

On Tuesday at the 500 level event in Monterrey, Mexico, No. 6 seed Linda Noskova will take on Lulu Sun, and No. 8 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova will face Antonia Ruzic from Croatia.

Rebecca Sramkova, Alycia Parks, Elisabetta Cocciaretto, and Ajla Tomljanovic will also be in action.

On Monday, two-time former winner Leylah Fernandez, No. 5 seed Elise Mertens, Donna Vekic, Marie Bouzkova, Tatjana Maria, and Kamilla Rakhimova were all first-round winners.
