Auger-Aliassime Reaches 3rd Final of 2025 at Dubai Open
Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime continued his strong start to the 2025 season on Friday at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, defeating Frenchman Quentin Halys 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 to reach Saturday’s final
Prevailing in two hours and 16 minutes, Auger-Aliassime hit 10 aces, won 74 percent of his first serve points, and broke his opponent four on occasions.
Moving up to No. 18 in the world in the latest rankings, the 24-year-old will next face either No. 4 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas or Tallon Griekspoor in Saturday’s final.
Tsitsipas needed three sets and nearly two hours to dispatch Italian Matteo Berretini on Thursday, and Griekspoor caused the upset of the day by defeating top seed Daniil Medvedev 2-6, 7-6(7), 7-5 in two hours and 37 minutes.
Tsitsipas leads Griekspoor 2-0 in head-to-head meetings.
Halys, who was appearing in his first-ever 500 level event semifinal, will move up to No. 59 in the world on Monday. His result represents an 18 position move in the rankings. A new career high for the 28-year-old.
Auger-Aliassime, who is now 16-4 on the season, will be aiming to win his third title of the year on Saturday and eighth of his career.
