Australian Open 2025: A Overview With Odds

The Australian Open is one of the most anticipated sporting events of the tennis world and from the 12th to the 26th of January 2025, the latest edition will hold. Like all major sporting tournaments, many will place their wagers on who will come out on top. However, unlike previous editions of the Australian Open, the way that wagers will be placed might be different, and some unique players may be put on the ballot sheet.

The last few years have seen a big boom in online wagering. No longer do people have to physically go to a sportsbook establishment to wager on the Australian Open or any other tournament. Instead, they can do so from the comfort of their own home or even on the go thanks to online wagering. Not only are more people wagering on these platforms but crypto has come into the mix as well. Based on blockchain technology, crypto assets can appreciate in value compared to fiat currency and this has made them popular among players. The sports wagering world has seen a big interest in crypto wagers and as Carlos De Lanuza writes, some of the best bitcoin sports betting sites offer competitive odds, a wide range of wagering options, and plenty of wagering markets.

As the Australian Open approaches, we can expect this trend to continue. But who will the people be wagering on? So far, a few players have been pegged to clinch the trophy in both the men’s and women’s categories.

One of the top picks in the women’s category is Aryna Sabalenka. The Belarusian player is currently the world number 1 in singles and used to be the number 1 in doubles. The three-time grand slam winner also ties with Kim Clijsters for most weeks spent at No 1 in the WTA Rankings and many believe that this winning streak will extend to the Australian Open, with current odds placed at +200.

Then there is Coco Gauff who is coming off both a WTA win in 2024 and a United Cup win just days ago. The American player has been ranked as world number 2 in singles and world number 1 in doubles and given that she is just 20 years old, is one of the favoured candidates to dominate the Australian Open. Her current odds are +500.

On the men’s side, we have Jannik Sinner, who is ranked number 1 in men’s tennis singles and is one of the first Italians ever to reach the top rankings. 2024 was an especially good year for Sinner, with an Australian Open win. Now, returning as defending champion, many believe that he will recreate the same magic that has made him a star in the tennis world. Currently, his odds are placed at +175.

Still, he will have to go up against Carlos Alcaraz, a Spanish tennis star who has won every major title except the Australian Open. Alcaraz has also been ranked as men’s number 1 in singles and a match between the two is highly anticipated by sports lovers, with his odds being +250.

As the tournament approaches, both fans and wagering lovers will be waiting on bated breath.
