Dimitrov Advances on Day 1 at Queen’s Club 2024
Inform Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov advanced to the second round of the Queen’s Club event in London, England on Monday, dismissing grass-court specialist Adrian Mannarino 6-1, 6-2.
Needing one hour and two minutes to advance, Dimitrov slammed 12 aces, won 84 percent of his first serve point, never faced a break point and recorded 28 winners.
The 33-year-old will next face Karen Khachanov or Sebastian Korda for a place in the quarterfinals.
Elsewhere, Jordan Thompson upset No. 7 seed Holger Rune 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-3, and qualifier Rinky Hijikata advanced when American Frances Tiafoe was forced to retire trailing 1-0 in the third set.
Tuesday’s action in Queen’s Club will feature top seed Carlos Alcaraz and two-time Wimbledon winner Andy Murray.

No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev saved a set point before advancing to thesecond round in Halle, Germany on Monday, defeating Nuno Borges 7-6(4), 6-4.
The Russian, who recorded nine aces during his one hour and 31 minute victory, will next face Zhizhen Zhang for a place in the quarterfinals.
Zhang dismissed Sebastien Ofner 7-6(8) 6-7(3) 6-4.
Other results on the day saw Dominik Koepfer, Fabian Marozsan and Lorenzo Sonego all reaching the second round.
Tuesday’s order of play in Halle will be highlighted by Jannik Sinner, Andrey Rublev, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
