Wednesday’s action at Wimbledon featured last year’s finalist Ons Jabeur ousting defending champion Elena Rybakina 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-1 in one hour and 53 minutes.
Hitting eight aces against her formidable opponent, Jabeur will next face No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka for a place in the finals. Sabalenka poured in an impressive straight set performance against No. 25 seed Madison Keys.
Elsewhere, the magical run of No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev continued in the quarterfinals as he dismissed American Christopher Eubanks in five sets.
Medvedev will next face top seed Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals. The Spaniard dispatched Holger Rune in straight sets.
Friday’s other semifinal will feature No. 2 seed Novak Djokovic taking on No. 8 seed Jannik Sinner.
Thursday’s schedule of play will be highlighted by the women’s semifinals.
