Gonet Geneva Open—Geneva, Switzerland

No. 2 seed Casper Ruud continued his strong play on clay-courts by claiming his eighth career title on Saturday in Geneva, Switzerland. Overcoming the constant resistance from his opponent Joao Sousa, Ruud eventually prevailed 7-6(3), 4-6. 7-6(1).

Adding to his title earlier this year in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ruud needed three hours and one minute to seal his victory.

Improving to 3-0 against Sousa in lifetime meetings, Ruud will enter Roland Garros as the eighth seed.

Sousa, who owns four career titles, will move up to No. 63 as a result of his efforts.

Open Parc Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes Lyon—Lyon, France

Top seed Cameron Norrie captured his fourth career title on Saturday in Lyon, France, defeating Slovak Alex Molcan 6-3, 6-7(3) 6-1.

In a match that lasted two hours and 31 minutes, Norrie struck six aces, won 72 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on five occasions.

Never facing his opponent on Tour before, Norrie improved to 24-12 on the season and will head into Roland Garros in good form. The Brit also captured the title in Delray Beach, Florida earlier this year and reached the finals in Acapulco, Mexico.

Molcan, who was appearing in his third career ATP Tour final, is currently being coached by Novak Djokovic’s former longtime coach, Marian Vajda.

The 24-year-old will move up to No. 38 in the world when Monday’s rankings are released. He is also slated to face top ranked Djokovic in the second-round of the French Open.
