Unseeded Argentine Sebastian Baez captured his maiden ATP Tour title on Sunday in Estoril, Portugal, dismissing talented American Frances Tiafoe 6-3, 6-2.
In a match featuring two of the fastest players on the circuit, it was Baez who overcame a break of serve early in the encounter and never looked back.
With the momentum on his side, the Argentine hit four aces and won 67 percent of his first serve points. Needing one hour and 14 minutes to claim his title, Baez also broke serve on four occasions.
Baez, who has the game to trouble any opponent on clay, will be ranked No. 40 in the world on Monday.
Tiafoe’s efforts this week will see the 24-year-old increase his ranking to No. 25 on Monday.

Danish youngster Holger Rune won his first ATP Tour title on Sunday in Munich, Germany after his opponent Botic Van De Zandschulp retired up 4-3 in the first set with an aching chest. In a match that was full of promise from the early stages, Rune won 68 percent of his first serve points before the one hour match was cut short.
Dispatching top seed Alexander Zverev in the second round, Rune will be ranked No. 44 in the world when Monday’s rankings are released. The 19-year-old—who loves the game—is known for spending countless hours on the practice court.
Van De Zandschulp, who dismissed No. 2 seed Casper Ruud and No. 7 seed Miomir Kecmanovic earlier in the event, will be ranked No. 31 on the computer on Monday.
The 26-year-old made the quarterfinals of the 2021 US Open.
