Next Gen ATP Finals—Milan, Italy
No. 6 seed Hyeon Chung captured the inaugural ATP Next Gen Final in Milan, Italy on Saturday, defeating top seed Andrey Rublev 3-4(5), 4-3(2), 4-2, 4-2.
In a match that lasted one hour and 55 minutes, Chung struck one ace and won 77 percent of his first serve points. Currently ranked No. 54 in the world, Chung capped off a memorable week by remaining undefeated in his five matches. The youngster also claimed the first prize cheque of $390,000.
Rublev, who is currently ranked No. 37 in the world, showed visible signs of fatigue in the final two sets.
Both Chung and Rublev remain exciting up-and-comers to follow as the 2018 ATP World Tour season looks to commence on December 31.
