Montreal, March 13, 2014 – In his fourth appearance in Indian Wells, Milos Raonic (Thornhill, ON) reached the quarter-finals of the BNP Paribas Open for the first time, and was trying to advance to his second career ATP Masters 1000 semifinal following his run at the Rogers Cup last summer.
He was going up against Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine who upset Rafael Nadal earlier in the tournament. Dolgopolov was the first to break and won 91 percent of his first serve points to take the first set 6-3. Raonic bounced back early in the second set to take a 3-0 lead, but Dologopolov won six of the seven final games to secure a 6-3, 6-4 victory in 79 minutes. This was one of the rare times that Raonic was out aced in a match in addition to being broken three times.
In the semifinals, Dolgopolov will face the winner of the match between Swiss Roger Federer and Kevin Anderson of South Africa.
