Monday’s action at Wimbledon featured No. 2 seed Novak Djokovic wrap up a fourth round contest with No. 17 seed Hubert Hurkacz, defeating the Pole 7-6(6), 7-6(6), 5-7, 6-4.
Djokovic will next face No. 7 seed Andrey Rublev on Tuesday.
Elsewhere, No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev advanced to the quarterfinals after dispatching Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-2 (RET), and will next face Christopher Eubanks. The American ousted No. 5 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 3-6, 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Eubanks will be appearing in his first-career Major quarterfinal.
No. 6 seed Holger Rune dashed the hope of No. 21 seed Grigor Dimitrov, dismissing the Bulgarian in four sets. Rune will next face top seed Carlos Alcaraz, dismissed former finalist Matteo Berrettini in four sets.
In women’s matches, defending champion Elena Rybakina advanced when her Brazilian opponent Beatriz Haddad Maia was forced to retire trailing 1-4 in the first set with a back injury.
Rybakina will look to reach the semifinals when she sets up a rematch of last year’s final with No. 6 seed Ons Jabeur. The Tunisian dismantled two-time former winner Petra Kvitova 6-0, 6-3.
No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka and No. 25 seed Madison Keys were also victories. The pair will face off on Wednesday. Sabalenka eased past Ekaterina Alexandrov 6-4, 6-0 and Keys dispatched Mirra Andreeva 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-2. Keys trailed by a set and 4-1 before mounting her comeback.
