Djokovic, Sabalenka, Sinner and Gauff Advance to Fourth Round of Australian Open

Ten-time Australian Open winner Novak Djokovic cruised into the fourth round of the Australian Open on Friday, defeating Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-3, 6-3, 7-6(2).

Needing two hours and 28 minutes to advance, Djokovic will next face Adrian Mannarino for a place in the quarterfinals.

Djokovic is unsurprisingly the favourite to win the Australian Open according to Sporting Post, with odds of +110.

The wily French veteran defeated No. 16 seed Ben Shelton in five sets to advance.

Elsewhere, No. 4 seed Jannik Sinner, No. 5 seed Andrey Rublev, No. 6 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, No. 10 seed Alex de Minaur, No. 12 seed Taylor Fritz and No. 15 seed Karen Khachanov all reached the round of 16.

On the women’s side, No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka blitzed past No. 28 seed Lesia Tsurenko 6-0, 6-0 and No. 4 seed Coco Gauff dismantled Alycia Parks 6-0, 6-2.

Sabalenka will next face returning American Amanda Anisimova and Gauff will take on Magdalena Frech.

Other women’s winners on the day included No. 9 seed Barbora Krejcikova, Marta Kostyuk and Maria Timofeeva.

Saturday’s schedule in Melbourne will include top seed Iga Swiatek, No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz, No. 6 Alexander Zverev, No. 19 Elina Svitolina and No. 3 Daniil Medvedev.
