US Open—Flushing Meadows, New York
Friday’s action at the US Open set up a dream final on the men’s side. First up, 23-time Major winner Novak Djokovic ousted Ben Shelton 6-3, 6-2, 7-6(4) and will next face third seed Daniil Medvedev on Sunday.
Alcaraz, the defending champion of the event, was ousted by 2021 winner Medvedev 7-6(3), 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
Djokovic and Medvedev have played on 14 occasions, with Djokovic owning a 9-5 head-to-head lead. Medvedev won the last meeting between the two in Dubai, U.A.E. earlier this year.
Sunday’s final will be the fourth meeting between the two players in a Major final.
