Sunday’s action at the US Open featured American Ben Shelton reaching his first-career quarterfinal at his home-country Major.

Defeating his good friend Tommy Paul 6-4, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, Shelton will face either Frances Tiafoe or Rinky Hijikata for a place in the semifinals.

Elsewhere, No. 6 seed Coco Gauff advanced over former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, No. 10 seed Karolina Muchova defeated Xinyu Wang 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 and No. 30 seed Sorana Cirstea ousted No. 15 seed Belinda Bencic 6-3, 6-3.

Still to come on Sunday, 23-time Major winner Novak Djokovic will highlight the night session and world No. 1 Iga Swiatek will take on No. 20 seed Jelena Ostapenko.

Monday’s Labour Day schedule will be highlighted by men’s top seed Carlos Alcaraz, No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula, former winner Daniil Medvedev and No. 5 seed Ons Jabeur.
