Former US Open winner Daniil Medvedev reached his seventh semifinal of the season on Thursday in Rome, Italy, easily dispatching qualifier Yannick Hanfmann 6-2, 6-2.
In a match that lasted one hour and 21 minutes, Medvedev struck eight aces, won 74 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on six occasions.
The current world No. 3 will next face Stefanos Tsitsipas, who defeated Borna Coric 6-3, 6-4. The winner will face either Holger Rune and Casper Ruud in Sunday’s final.
Friday’s action at the Foro Italico will feature the women’s semifinals.
No. 11 seed Veronika Kudermetova will take on No. 30 seed Anhelina Kalinina and reigning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina will take on Jelena Ostapenko.
