Jannik Sinner Captures First ATP Tour Title in Sofia

Italian sensation Jannik Sinner won his maiden ATP Tour title in Sofia, Bulgaria on Saturday, defeating Canadian Vasek Pospisil 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(3).

Withstanding 14 aces from his opponent, Sinner captured the first set in easy fashion before Pospisil stormed back in the second set. Winning 75 percent of his first serve points and breaking serve on two occasions, Sinner used his natural confidence and even temperament to capture the deciding set tiebreaker.

Improving to 19-11 on the year, Sinner will move up to No. 37 in the world when the latest rankings are released on Monday. The 19-year-old has recently been touted as a future World No. 1 be many greats of the game.

Pospisil, who was attempting to win his first career title, fell to 0-3 in Tour finals. The 30-year-old is currently ranked No. 61 in the world.
