With Wimbledon being cancelled this year due to Covid-19 and lockdown restrictions,
Tennis fans will be please to know that the US Open will still be going ahead but just with a
number of changes; mainly the fact that there will be no qualifying rounds for the tournament. But this might not be Andy Murray fans who leads the Wildcard selections.
Andy Murray has received a wild-card invitation for the US Open at the end of the month.

This will be Murray’s first major tournament since the 2019 Australian Open as he continues to battle his demons with injury’s and surgery. It looked as if Murray’s career was due to be over because of his latest hip surgery but he has bounced back and into contention clearly for a wildcard position. Wanting to take a punt on Murray to win? He can be found at 100/1 on wagering sites such as here. These allowing players to support markets and play games, who have previously signed up for Gamstop and are restricted. However, I’d personally deviate towards the favourites of Djokovic, Nadal or Federer.
Murray has won the US Open back in 2012 which would seem like an age ago for him, but
that was when Murray was number one in the world and he will be a long way away from
that. In fact he’s on the road for recovery and this chance at a major will give him a proper
insight into where his fitness is at. Andy has now had two hip surgery’s, the second replacing part of his hip with a metal plate – and it will now be getting to the point in Andy’s wind where he’ll be weighing up if all this pain and heartbreak is worth it.
Nether the less, Andy will be “pumped” to get back into the action, even if he isn’t able to
compete at the standard that he would like to, he’ll be happy to be back out in the action and in the big time again – especially at the US Open in where he won his first ever Major so he has fond memories at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre.
