McAdoo Meets Roddick, Isner and Karlovic
February 19, 2010
Basketball Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo took time out of his busy schedule on Thursday to attend the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships in Memphis.
McAdoo, who is the assistant coach of the Miami Heat, met Andy Roddick, John Isner, and Ivo Karlovic on his trip to the tournament.
“It was fantastic just meeting the two big guys, [John] Isner and Ivo [Karlovic],” said McAdoo, whose 14-year-old daughter, Rasheeda, is a promising junior player. “I’ve seen these guys on TV and you don’t know how big they are until you get right up on them! It’s just amazing that these guys have the type of game for tennis because they always say tennis is for smaller guys, but these guys are great players.
“Of course, meeting Andy [Roddick] was just fantastic because I try to watch all of his matches. I had the chance to talk to him briefly. I see him at some of our Heat games, sitting on the front row, when he has the chance.
“It’s nice seeing tennis; I’m a big tennis fan. Every time I have a break I try to see all the tennis matches I can.”
McAaddo was in town to support the Heat against the Memphis Grizzlies.
