ATP Cup—Sydney, Australia

World No. 2 Novak Djokovic led his team to the inaugural ATP Cup victory on Sunday in Sydney, Australia, defeating world No. 1 Rafael Nadal 6-2, 7-6(4), before returning with partner Viktor Troicki later in the day to capture the doubles point and title 6-2, 6-4 over Feliciano Lopez and Pablo Carreno Busta.

Improving to 8-0 in singles during the ATP Cup competition, Djokovic carved up six singles wins and two in doubles. Arguably the best hard-court player of all-time, Djokovic hit 12 aces, won 81 percent of his first serve points, broke serve twice and never lost his delivery against his Spanish opponent. Djokovic also won his ninth straight match against Nadal on hard-courts.

The Serb once again enters the Australian Open as the odds-on-favorite to win the title.

The Spanish team defeated home nation favorite Australia in the semifinals.

The Australian Open begins on January, 20.
