Djokovic, Ferrer, Berdych reach Australian Open second-round; Monaco ousted

Monday’s action at the Australian Open featured top seed and defending champion Novak Djokovic cruise into a second-round encounter against Ryan Harrison after beating Paul-Henri Mathieu in straight sets. Djokovic was joined in the winners column by David Ferrer, Tomas Berdych, Janko Tipsarevic and Nicolas Almagro. The highest seeded casualty on the day was No. 11 seed Juan Monaco, who lost to Andrey Kuznetsov in three sets. The rest of the day’s results can be seen below. Tuesday’s order of play will feature Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Juan Martin del Potro, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Richard Gasquet.
