Nadal to miss 2013 Australian Open

World No. 4 and former winner Rafael Nadal pulled out of the 2013 Australian Open on Friday with a stomach virus, organizers said.

Nadal has been out of competition since losing in the second round of Wimbledon and has now set his sights on returning to the ATP World Tour event in Acapulco in February.

Nadal will drop to No. 5 in the world after the Australian Open.
