Federer eases past Tipsarevic for round robin victory in London; Ferrer defeats del Potro

World No. 2 Roger Federer improved to 6-0 against Janko Tipsarevic in lifetime meetings, defeating the Serbian 6-3, 6-1 at the World Tour Finals in London on Tuesday.

Hitting his slice backhand to perfection, Federer wasn’t his utmost best on his first serve points won, but the 17-time major winner used his pedigree at the event to progress in one hour and eight minutes.

Improving to 1-0 in Group B, Federer will next see action on Thursday.

Tipsarevic was making his second appearance at the Tour finals, after participating last year as an alternate. The day’s final match saw No. 4 seed David Ferrer win his 11th straight match on Tour after he defeated No. 6 seed Juan Martin del Potro, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
