THAILAND OPEN, Bangkok, Thailand

No. 2 seed Richard Gasquet poured in a flawless performance at the Thailand Open on Sunday, dismissing compatriot Gilles Simon 6-2, 6-1 to win his seventh career title.

Winning 80 percent of his first serve points, Gasquet broke Simon on five occasions while only losing his serve once. Winning his second career hard-court title, Gasquet improved to 37-18 in 2012 and will next compete at the China Open. Simon, who was in search of his second title this season, fell to 38-21 on the year and will next see action at the Japan Open in Tokyo.

Gasquet will likely retain his No. 14 ranking on Monday, while Simon should see his position improve by two places to No. 17.
