Tsonga defends Metz title

MOSELLE OPEN, Metz, France

Top seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga defended his Metz title on Sunday in France, dismantling No. 5 seed Andreas Seppi 6-1, 6-2. In a match that took 50 mintues to complete, Tsonga blasted seven aces, won 96 percent of his first serve points and never faced a break point against his Italian opponent.

Winning his second title of the season, Tsonga only lost 24 points throughout his victory. The 27-year-old Frenchman improved to 45-17 on the year and 3-1 against Seppi in lifetime meetings.

Seppi, who has carved up the best 12 months of his career, fell to 1-3 in Tour finals in 2012. The 28-year-old is currently ranked No. 28 in the world. He should see his ranking improve to No. 22 on Monday.
