September 12, 2012 · Print This Article

Former world No. 1 and French Open winner Juan Carlos Ferrero will end his 14-year playing career at the Valencia Open in October.

Ferrero, who is currently ranked No. 111 in the world, holds a 5-11 record on the year and has not competed on Tour since the Umag event in Croatia. The 32-year-old won 16 titles in his career and just short of 14 million in prize money. The Spaniard captured his first title in Mallorca (1999) and his last in Stuttgart (2011).

Playing his best tennis on clay-courts, Ferrero won two titles on hard-courts and also reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon on two occasions.
