Top seed Novak Djokovic capped off an incredible week at the Rogers Cup on Sunday, defeating Richard Gasquet 6-3, 6-2 to win his third title.
Holding a remarkable 50 of 51 times in this week, Djokovic won 84 percent of his first serve points, 80 percent of his second serve points and smacked five aces during the one hour and one minute blowout.
Improving to 7-1 against Gasquet in lifetime meetings, Djokovic won his third title of the year and will stay at No. 2 in the world after his victory.
Gaining 510 points from last year’s third-round finish in Montreal, Gasquet will see his ranking hit No. 14 in the world on Monday. He’s currently ranked No. 21.
Djokovic and Gasquet will next see action at the Cincinnati Masters in Ohio. Djokovic will receive a first-round bye before facing either Andreas Seppi or Robin Haase, and Gasquet will open his campaign against Canadian Milos Raonic.
