Massu Upset About Davis Cup Schedule, in Light of Earthquake

March 1, 2010 · Print This Article

Former Olympic champion Nicolas Massu spoke out on Monday about Chile’s Davis Cup tie this weekend against Israel, in light of the massive Earthquake which hit the country this weekend.

“For us it would be ideal if the tie had been postponed at least two days, but this is what the International Tennis Federation decided,” said Massu, adding that he’s been unable to train since the quake struck.

“But the Israelis are in the same situation. We’ll be all equal.”

The International Tennis Federation apparently wants the tie to continue on schedule, and the Chilean Federation will comply with their wishes.

However, the Chilean Federation also stated that if the they had full control over the tie,”we would have suspended it.”
